Has anyone stayed here and, if so, what did you think of it? How is the location? Can you advise on a room choice for 2 people (not a couple) sharing a room with 2 separate beds? I read that rooms size varies even in the same category and some rooms are very small. Thanks.

Heard from DS and he is enjoying his Moscow visit/work experience. He loves the Golden Apple Hotel. He ended up reserving another room instead of sharing. The breakfasts are wonderful. He said The Pushkin Restaurant was amazing - best service he has experienced in his travels and food was delicious. The work he is doing is going well and he said he will definitely return for future projects. This evening, he and his business associates have been invited to someone's home for dinner. He is very excited about that!
One of my colleagues have been staying at Golden Apple a year ago. The location is very good. You could just be a little bit surprised by the modern design of the hotel (especially if you used to see the classic interiors). But it the matter of taste.
I've been there 4 times. The design may indeed be surprising, but it won't annoy you. Excellent service. The location is good, I recommend taking the subway, it's much quicker than taxi in Moscow.
We just returned from Moscow (June, 2011) and stayed at the Golden Apple Hotel. We did not like the hotel for many reasons. The beds were very uncomfortable, very hard. It is not a five star hotel, a three star,at best. The rooms are very small. It is about a 30 minute walk to Red Square/Kremlin, so not a very good location.
Preski, thanks for this information and I will pass it on to our son. I guess he liked it but everyone's taste is different. I think our son is returning soon to Russia but his business takes him to St. Petersburg so he will be exploring other hotels for his journey.
Stayed there last month.
Perfect service, the conceirge was very well prepared for all kind of questions about the city.
We stayed in a Superior room, it was quiet. Breakfast was just fantastic!
