Our daughter is studying abroad in London and we want to take her away to a place none of us have been to. So we picked Prague. We will be there for a short period of time. Where should we stay, what she we do and what are some good restaurants. We like nice hotels and really good restaurants so any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

The Location of the Pariz is ideal but there are lots of other hotel around that area including a Hilton and a Marriot.the majority of the siights are walkable from there and there are tram and metro links to toher areas.

I am not too good at reccommening resturants as I tend to eat in places well away from the city center when I am in Prague.

Very true about many hotels central to the old town square.

Try www.booking.com/prague After you log your dates, you will be able to check 4 and 4 star hotels.

You will get pricing and many reviews.

booking.com are very good and I have used them several times for accommodation in Prague, just booked with them last week for a trip in May, I am staying in the Dejvika area which is too far out for you.. You don't have to pay in advance and they have a very good cancellation policy.

Just make sure it says 'free cancellation'.

You may see a price you like that is less than others, but does NOT say 'free cancellation'.

We just booked five or our seven different hotels in Spain using this site. A few with free breakfast.

We stayed at the Pariz last May. The location can't be beat. It has an old world feel. The rooms are nice, not luxe, but nice and clean and the staff was great. The breakfasts are plentiful and you feel like you're living in another century. Easy walk to everything. Don't miss the Kolowicz Palace (sp?)We had friends stay at the St. Augustine Hotel which I gather is 5*. We enjoyed wandering around and taking the tram to the Castle and beyond to the end of the line, then getting off above the Castle and walking down into it from the Monastery above. The Jewish Quarter is interesting too.

Is it the one in V Jame?, don't know the hotel but the area is ok.
The street the Hotel is in has a very good expats bar called Jama and you are not far from Wenseslas square there are numerous bars and resturants with in a few minutes walk.wenseslas square is only a minutes or so walk away and old town square about 10 minutes, trams and metros are also a very short walk away.
Thats the good stuff but i also feel I must tell that there are several "Adult" establishments and Irish bars nearby on Stepanska and Ve Smeckach and if you are going to see crowds of stag parties this is where they will be.In Early March there many not be many but I feel I should tell you.

unclegus- Yes it is on V Jame. Thanks for the heads up. The hotel does indicate that it is in a very good location so I took a shot!!! I actually found it on Gilt so it was a pretty good deal.

It is a fine area just some folk get a bit upset when they see a few Adult places,there are usually a few touts out late at night trying to encourage young men into the places but you will not be bothered, just felt i had to make you aware. the Jama pub is preety good, does really good steaks and burgers, so give it a try on night. nearby is the the Lucerna arcade.

a very unusual sculpture in there that many folk miss,just take a wander through will only take 2 minutes.

Hello,
My husband and I are in Prague right now this is our last night. We are leaving for Vienna in the morning. We had 2 1/2 days here. Prague is a very walkable city. We walked everywhere. From the Castle Quarter you can see lovely views of the city. Charles Bridge is wonderful and also affords beautiful views. As you walk around, be sure to look up and around because just about all the buildings are incredible! There are many city tours available; although we didn't do them. We had a good city map and enjoyed ourselves immensely. Love Old Town Square! For dinner, we went to Rainermaria Rilke, Karoliny Svelte 25, which we found on Trip Advisor. We also ate at an Italian place with delicious fresh pasta that I can't remember the name just now. Today we ate at a pub in the Jewish Quarter called KolKovna that we liked. Cafe Louvre is a fun cafe for dessert. Enjoy!

cafe Louvre is very good, it is where I usually have brunch with my friend Jason when we are both in the city, the Cowboy Breakfast/brunch there is quite superb.
