Hey, it is O.K. that you are in the wrong room. My wife and I got back from New Zealand 6 weeks ago - spent 8 days prior to heading to French Polynesia. The books will give you much good information, and I will add: 1) Queenstown - eat at the Cow for nice experience, have a drink at the top of the gondola, fly back from your Milford trip if it is in you budget, and take Dart River (my wife's favorite thing) instead of Shotover; 2) Mt. Cook - stay at McKenzie Country Inn in Twizel instead of in park; DO Mt. Cook Ski Planes (not to be missed and my most favorite thing); 3) Christchurch - (do not expect too much from city itself) - eat at Le Bon Bolli; TransAlpine Train get off at Arhurs Pass and wait for trains return (Greymouth is waste); drive to Akaroa taking the tour around the bays (not the direct route) if you are up to some danger (30 minutes of road is dangerous); 4) Auckland - nothing too much there except for National Maritime Museum and Devonport. We did not buy much in New Zealand exept in Devenport antique places. Prices were low and quality high. Regrets - did not go to Dunedin and did not have another week. CONCLUSION. The most fantastic trip. We loved the people, country and prices. <BR>

took a tour of the south Island with Kirra tours out of Adelaide, Australia. Great people and fun. Visited the penguin colony in Dunedin, Queenstown (mainly for tourists), flight around mt. Cook was great. Did the Bay of Island tour on the North Island-drove along the 90 mile beach. Beautiful country and friendly people. Almost any guide book can give you thoought provoking ideas.
