Going to Greece at last! First of many posts: Best websites info?
Doing my homework for long awaited and much anticipated trip to Greece in Sept. Have started scouring this and other sites for best info and need as much help as I can get!
First Request(s):
-Best websites (besides this one, of course) for info on Greece, maps, hotels, etc.
-Info / URL's for island-to-island small boat type cruise

For smaller, more intimate hotels we were very happy using the "Your Greece" website & agency, http://www.yourgreece.gr , who bill themselves as "Network of Great Small Hotels".
They do charge a 15 Euro fee per booking, but it was well worth it IMO. Stayed in some very charming hotels that I would not otherwise have found on my own.
Cities/towns where we used their hotel bookings included: Kardamyla, Gerolimenas, Monemvassia, and Dimitsena.
From my experience, the booking fee seems to be the same whether you book 1 hotel or multiple hotels at the same time, but I could be wrong on this -- their web site has the details.
The Michelin No.737 map of Greece (1:700,000 scale) is good for overall planning of driving routes and itinerary.
But for actual , on-the-ground navigating and finding your way around, the Greek-published "Road Editions" maps (1:250,000) are better and more accurate. The "Road Editions" contain both greek and english place names.
"Road Editions" maps do not seem easily available in USA, but are readily found in Greek bookstores and kiosks in the more touristy towns and cities.

A lesser known (private) website, with good info on the islands, and excellent photography, is http://www.islandstrolling.com. Be sure to have your speakers on - some of the pages come with Greek music.

I'm jealous-- our daughter visited Greece this Spring and is dying for us to go there, too. She said the people were so open and friendly and helpful, the prices so inexpensive, the food was fabulous. The 'ferry' boats they took from island to island in the Cyclades group were really nice-looking mini-liner type ships.
Have fun!
