Glasgow

I am visiting Glasgow for the common wealth games and want to ensure I make the best of my trip.

I would like to plan an itinerary of where I am going and when.

I would like some recommendations of places to eat.

I have to far been told to try 200 SVS which has a restaurant and a spa. I have also been told to try the Blywthswood hotel which I have heard of before.

Has anyone ever tried 200 SVS, I have looked at the website and it appears to be what I am looking for but reviews would be appreciated. http://200svs.com/

Is there anything/where else anyone would recommend?

hi Colin,

Last month, my sister and I had an early dinner at The Sparkle Horse pub, http://thesparklehorse.com/ ... £25 for the two of us. I enjoyed the steak and ale pie, she liked the stuffed loin (I did tell her about black pudding) and we shared a mac/cheese (yum!), http://thesparklehorse.com/menus/la-carte-menu/

It's right close to Kelvinhall subway station and a ride on the subway was a highlight of the trip for me. I thought it wild and crazy fun, an inexpensive fair ride!

Oh great thanks so much I will add it to my list! Also getting the subway is always an experience as I am not from Glasgow!

Glasgow centre has a zillion restaurants. Try the Italian Caffe enoteca, 92 Albion street.

I'm puzzled - 200SVS (aka 200 St Vincent St) is a conference/wedding venue not a hotel or normal restaurant. Have you booked your accommodation yet - if so, where? Glasgow will be packed full during the CWG. As others have indicated there are TONS of places to eat in Glasgow. You'll need to be more specific in types of food, area and budget to get more useful recommendations.

I thought 200 SVS looked like pretty sharp. I have sent them an inquiry as to whether they can host an event, and asked for different price and booking options.
