gift question

Here's a question for you! We are booked at the Hotel San Francesco in Rome for the first week in September, and our eamil contact there, Daniele, has been so helpful already that we would like to bring her a little gift from home in gratitude. Any ideas? Joanne

This sort of question has come up before.
Your intentions are very nice, but I imagine that Daniele would very much appreciate a gratuity of some amount, gracefully provided in an envelope, perhaps with a note or card expressing your thanks for her help.

Hi J,

I agree.

Yours is a business, not a social relationship.

I agree with elaine. Perhaps also a note to her superior telling him/her what an outstanding job she did, how much you appreciated her help and that you will recommend them to your friends.

A note to her boss might be the best way to reward her. However, along with that, you could add a jar of jam common to your home...or some notecards..actually anything relating to your home. I am always for rewarding good service.

I could be mistaken but Daniele sounds like a male name to me, just in case that's important if you decide to buy him/her a gift! I believe the female version is Daniela, but I could be wrong.

it's by the spelling, both male and female sound the same, to my ear anyway, but it's Daniele & Danielle I believe.

Cash gratuity, in an envelope, with a thank you written on a postcard showing a photo of your local area.

if the woman has an Italian name, it's Daniella.
But Daniele is the male version, in Italian.
