I will be in Paris on business in late August and will end by flying home from Milan. We've looked into flying from CDG to Florence, Genoa, Pisa, etc. I guess we waited too late because getting a one way ticket now is costing any where from $800-$1000 each! We really didn't want to spend the entire Italy visit in Milan. Our hope was to visit Tuscany or maybe Cinque Terre. I'm wondering if we should take a train or fly to Milan (cheapest flights) and drive? We will only have 4 full days in Italy. Any suggestions??

For low cost flights check www.whichbudget.com to see which airlines fly from one of the several Paris airports.
You could also book a round-trip on AF or another airline and only use the 1st leg. Those same $1000 one way fares you see on AirFrance from Paris to Florence are $280 round trip. ($140 fare + $140 fees/taxes)
Fly to Milan or Pisa--there has to be much cheaper options on the site mentioned above.
Hi Kris - Easyjet have fares starting at € 43 in late August on the
Paris-Pisa route.
Flights are from Orly.

Hope this helps ...

Hi Kris
Use www.skyscanner.net which searches all budget european airlines for you.
You'll be able to pick up a cheap flight
Thank you for the great information. We thought we were going to have to take the overnight train- but EasyJet looks like it might be the answer! It looks like its just a quick trip no frills airline- has anyone flown them? thanks again for all of the useful info...
I have flown with them a few times. Just beware of the weight restrictions on your luggage. There are huge fees for overweight bags.
Kris - I use them several times a year. They're one of the biggest budget airlines in Europe. No frills is right - but they're fine. I've never had a problem with them.
Steve
thanks all, we have booked and purchased extra weight for luggage.
