Getting to the Lipizzaner Stud Farm at Lipica

We will be spending a month in Venice in the fall and I am looking at a couple of overnight trips. When I learned that the breeding farm at Lipica is only 14 km from Trieste, I decided we have to go there. I have always admired these beautiful horses, and would love to see them in their natural setting, on the farm, rather than in the official performance at Vienna.

Thinking of spending a night in Trieste (hotel recommendations?) and then visiting the farm the next day, with a late return to Venice. We would ask the hotel to hold our luggage while we are at Lipica. The training demonstration and farm tours starts at 11 am.

From what I have read, and from contacting the hotel at Lipica, it appears the only way there from Trieste is by taxi, or by bus from Trieste to Sezana and taxi from there. While that option is certainly cheaper, it am concerned about the time it might take. And I cannot find any good information on the cost of the taxi for the 14 km drive from Trieste.

Anyone have any suggestions or advice? Thanks!

BTW: the Lipizzaner horses in the Spanische Reitscule in Vienna come since 1919 from the Austrian stud at Biber, no longer from Lipizza.
