Getting from Split, Croatia to Athens, Greece

Hi all, an extensive online search tells me it's quite hard to travel between these two paces, and often involves long ferries/overnight stays with busses etc etc.

Have found a flight leaving Split at 11.30, stopping in Serbia for 3 hours then arriving in Athens at 6.00pm, for 147 pound.

Is this going to be the most cost and time effective method of travel? have booked a hotel in Athens already so need to leave and arrive on the same day hopefully!
