Getting from Malpensa airport into city
We will arrive at Milan Malpensa airport and are planning to take train into the city.
From there we plan to take a taxi to our hotel (not far from Duomo). Are taxis ok in Milan?
I know in Prague you had to be very careful about the price. Any suggestions?
Is there a tram stop near the train station?

Cordona is closer to the Dumoo and city center than Milan Centrale station and the train fare I suspect could be cheapor than on the spiffy new dedicated service to Centrale.
Plus at Cordona last time I was there taxis bellied right up to the train - Centrale is a much much larger and at time chaotic station to navigate.

No, both are R trains with the train to Centrale costing 10€ and Cadorna is 11€.
I would look at the proximity of your hotel to both stations and then decide which train.

her hotel is by the Duomo, in the city center and Cordona is significantly closer to that than Centrale, right?
And a crucial factor to me would be the ease of getting a taxi at Cordona - taxis literally right next to train arrival platform - not familiar with taxis in Centrale but it is a huge hectic station - Cordona is a small few platform station easy to negotiate
no brainer - go to Cordona

The OP said not far from the Duomo which can mean about anything. If it's towards the Garibaldi station side, it might be just as close to get off at Garibaldi on the way to Centrale. Taxis are readily available at all three.
The thinner blue lines are the trams. You'll have to enlarge and scroll around to see the various line connections.

FYI - I know the metro (all these stations are on the metro as is the Duomo) has a ticket requirement for luggage (same price as a ride ticket). I don't know if anyone actually buys them. I would assume it applies to trams also.

At Cordona the taxis literally are waiting on the other side of the platform when train folks get off - are you saying it is as easy at Centrale - where the airport train comes in taxis are smack right there? Could be I have not experienced the new train service from Malpensa to Centrale but unless the hotel is significantly close to Centrale I would advise avoiding that often zoo-like chaotic station with a zillion tracks and I would think at times long long queues for taxis - Cordona is small and easy to do and that to me would be a big plus - but for some reason kybourbon keeps pushing Centrale - I cannot see one reason for Centrale, giving its often IMO horrendously crowded status - a taxi from any station will be about the same probably so do what is guaranteeably seemless easy transfer from train to taxi - now if taking tram I believe similar easiness of access is at Cordona (but I admit I do not recall the tram access at Cordona but if taking a taxi no-brainer IMO to Cordona.

Has anyone taken a taxi from Centrale after taking the new dedicated airport service - do taxis greet the trains like at Cordona - they may well and it may well be seemless as well as at Cordona - any experiences - thanks!
