Getting from Gare de L'Est to Gare de Lyon

We have to get from Gare de L'Est to Gare de Lyon and would like to know the quickest and best way to get there. How much time should we allow between trains?

less than 15 minutes if there is minimal traffic using a taxi. Fewest stairs and least walking distance, too.

I would just jump in a taxi as well or 65 Bus direction gare de lyon will get you there in about 25 minutes.

Metro requires a change at Bastille or Chatelet (awful, imo).

Corney, old boy...don't screw around with busses, or the Metro...do what everyone says...T-A-X-I ....the few extra euros you will forget about in one or two days...and you won't be any richer or poorer...I promise

Most people take the metro. However bus 65 is direct and takes less than 20 minutes. The stop is in front of the Quick fast food just across from the station.

If you need a bus ticket, just purchase it from the driver for 2 EU each.

Always allow AT LEAST AN HOUR between trains if you have to cross Paris.

Metro/RER is cheapest, €1.80, it physically takes 30 minutes.

Taxi will cost €17-€22 and takes about the same time, depending on how long you have to wait in the taxi queue and how much traffic there is.

I usually take the metro/RER if I'm solo, a taxi if I'm with wife and kids and multiple bags.

Always use the official taxi rank, ignore any touts as they may may lead you to a €65 private hire vehicle, ouch! The taxi queue may look very long, but usually only takes 10 minutes to get into a taxi as the queue moves pretty fast.

For a metro map see www.ratp.fr
