Taken from the US state dept website:
If you are traveling as a tourist, you can purchase a tourist visa at a Turkish Embassy or Consulate in the United States, or you can purchase a sticker visa at the Turkish airport or other port of entry for $20 (U.S.) cash. There is one exception: foreigners who are traveling to Turkey by cruise ship are allowed to enter Turkey without a visa for a maximum period of 72 hours, with the permission given by the local security authorities at the port of entry.
Enjoy
Is more complicated and more expensive to do in advance before leaving US. Will be there more than 72 hrs. Cruise company can get it for us for $49 pp, but the sticker visa only costs $20. So was trying to find out if it is easy & quick to obtain sticker at first port in Turkey, which is Kusadasi. I have read that it is simple & quick at the airport---wondering if as workable at this port.
If you are on a cruise and spend not more than 1 night in Turkey you don't need to get a visa. We were in Kusadasi last June and didn't get a visa, the ship took our passports and we collected them at the end of the cruise. Longer stays of course need a visa, but a cruise typically doesn't stay longer than overnight in any one port.
