Germany, Austria and Switzerland - lots of questions!

My husband and I are headed to Germany, Austria and Switzerland in a few weeks. We'll fly into Munich on Thursday, be there for Oktoberfest on Saturday, and leave Munich Sunday morning. Just to confirm- we already have a hotel room there. I made that reservation in February. My husband has never been to Europe and wants to spend most of the trip after Munich without making hotel reservations until we're there and can decide from day to day where to go, or stay where we are for another day. We have to end up in Zurich 10 days later to fly home. We'll be traveling by train and bus, with backpacks. I've spent a summer in School in Innsbruck, so I have an ok understanding of how the trains work once we're there; however, what I need help with is which ticket to purchase. From what I have been able to gather, I had decided we needed the Swiss pass. But looking at tickets, it seems like a Eurail Select Pass is the best bang for your buck. Only problem, only a few benefits of the Swiss Pass are included. But if we buy just a 2 country pass for Germany and Austria, then buy the Swiss Pass separately, it's about $150 more, each. At least that is how i understand everything. Knowing that we'll only be in Switzerland for probably 4 or 5 days, is that worth it?

I would also love any advice you all can give me on where to go in Switzerland. And Germany and Austria too, but I at least have a little bit more familiarity there. I really want to go to Lugano and the Jungfrau Region- probably Wengen. But is Lugano too far? I'm absolutely open for suggestions, but do know that we need to stay in the Eastern portion of Switzerland. What about St. Moritz? And I'm planning to surprise my husband for his birthday and go paragliding in Switzerland, as his 29th birthday is while we're there. Any thoughts or suggestions there?
