Germany & Austria
We're off this evening on our annual three-week holiday (last year it was the Loire and Dordogne Valleys), this time visiting family and friends in the Pfalz and Black Forest, starting off in Franconia and then staying in ferienwohnungs in Leutasch (near Seefeld) and Marktschellenberg (near Berchtesgaden). I've got many day-trips and hikes in mind to take from these two spots.
I'd like to offer a generic thanks to this invaluable Fodor's Board and to all those who contribute to it; I've been helped considerably (as never before) in the planning of our trip. I just hope I can give back a fraction of what I've received.
Happy travels to all! Tuck

TuckH, hurry up!
Really looking forward to your trip report around the Pfalz area, as we visit about 2X/year and I'm always looking for new things to see and do.
Please report if you visiting any good vineyards for tasting.

Riffic, I'll do my best but in the meantime I'll say that I no longer imbibe and can't help with the wine-tasting although my wife's friend's family owns such a place. Also, regrettably, the towns of the Pfalz were a bit of a disappointment, i.e. compared to other areas. Sorry.
