Possibly taking a spur of the moment trip to Rhein region end of October.
Plan base in Boppard at B&B, taking daytrips by train.
Have been to the region before.
Would the Laender Tickets be of any use to me in cost-saving, if I anticipate crossing over into the next state for my target daytrip town? For ex: Rheinland-Pfalz-->Eltville (Hesse)
RF-->Idstein (Hesse)
RF-->Lorch (Baden-Wuerttemberg), etc

The R-P ticket will get you to Eltville and Lorch and to any destination you can locate in the coloreed zones on this map of coverage for the R-P ticket:

Idstein is excluded. Look into the Happy Weekend ticket or the Quer durchs Land ticket (weekdays) for a trip there from Boppard. These DB day passes cover all of Germany, not just individual states.

Note that there's also a cheaper VRM day pass for one, and a mini-group day pass as well, should you be taking trips to towns within the VRM zone (in light green on the map that follows.)

Lorch in Baden-Württemberg is no day trip from the Middle Rhine, it is much too far - and despite its medieval monastery it would be an unusual destination anyway.

There is another Lorch within the Middle Rhine Gorge, which is in Hessen.

Then there is Lorsch, in Hessen near Darmstadt, that's the famous one with the Carolingian abbey.

Recheck which of them is the right one.

Regional passes come in first class too I believe and for not a whole lot more - and regional trains IME can always be crowded at times but first class rarely so- that said check to be sure your regional train has first class as not all do.

Don't think the weekend and QDL specials have first class options- but if they do consider it too.

Great spot-on advice from Fuss as usual on tariffication matters on German trains! He the man!

I think Fuss fussed up a bit. I failed to read the "(Baden-Wuerttemberg)" after "Lorch" and assumed you meant the one on the Rhine, since you mentioned Boppard and Eltville. That Lorch is Lorch(Rhein) at the DB website.

(The other Lorch is like 4 hours away! Hope you weren't planning to go there.)

The statements of Fussgaenger are correct. It is not always possible to buy a ticket on the next train.
Many commuter trains leave without a conductor. If there is a ticket inspection it will be very expensive for you.

The solution for your project:

Frankfurt Goslar for two persons:

Buy a Hessen ticket for 35 € and use it from Frankfurt to Eichenberg

Buy a Niedersachsen ticket for 29 € and use it from Eichenberg to Goslar

For the connection Golslar to Wernigerrode is it cheaper to buy a standard ticket for two people.

Goslar to Wernigerrode for 22,60 €

Please keep in mind that you have to change more often and pay attention to the conditions of the country tickets.
