Georges - Pompidou center

Hello
I'm hesitating going to Georges next week.
Read mixed reviews but reviews and would like some info from people who have been there.
What I've got in mind is a business relaxing dinner. I would go there with some colleagues and 2 US clients. Food is less important than atmosphere and I want these US guys to come home with a feeling of having seen something of Paris, not 'just' a restaurant.
My 2 US clients are people I've known for years, I don't want to impress them but I want them to have a good evening, something they can tag with Paris, not just one more dinner.
Thks for your advice

I have not been there myself, but most people seem to like it as it is extremely well situated for seeing a few of the most important areas of Paris.

However, for similar views, I might be more tempted by a dinner at Kong on the top of the abandoned Samaritaine building.

I have dined at Ziryab on the roof of the Institut du Monde Arabe, and I liked it very much, but your guests would most likely need to have an interest in Lebanese/Middle Eastern cuisine.

thanks Ker

I'll check Kong too.
One of my bosses invited one of my colleague at IMA 3 weeks ago (he kind of forgot me, the basterd) and yes, it was great, but I am not going to have him come twice in the same restaurant in one month...

I think that the Georges is a perfect venue for what you're looking for.

I'd say that the food is decent, if a little overpriced, but what you're really paying for is the atmosphere and the views (which sounds from your post like the most important part of the equation).

I ate there a couple of years ago and had drinks on the terrace in November and would definitely recommend it.

I would suggest that you phone and ask for a table near the window to try and give your guests the best possible view, but even if you're sat at one of the 'inner' tables it would still be quite an experience.

I second kerouac's proposal for Kong as another option. I haven't eaten there for a few years, but in this case, I'd say the experience far outweighs the quality (and price!) of the food.

If you're expensing it, then Kong might just get the nod as it really does feel special and like an experience you'd be hard pushed to get anywhere other than Paris. Kong has featured in lots of films and I believe an episode of Sex and the City (I won't presume to give an opinion on whether thats a good or a bad thing) but I imagine it would be a meal that your US clients wouldn't forget in a hurry.

You exactly got my meaning.
I'm pretty sure my US counterparts don't watch 'sex in the city' (and neither have I - ever, so should watch one entirely) so I'll start with Georges, but will definitely try Kong another time or as back-up.

Thanks both, you gave me the EXACT answers I was hoping for.
I will come back and tell you how it went.
