GENEVE,MONTREUX,INTERLAKEN and LUZERN or Weggis?

My husband will be travelling in october to switzerland for 6 nights. We will rent a car as I have an imune disease and sometimes is a little bit difficult walking.
1 night - geneva ( we will pick up the car on the departure day)
Night 2 and 3 - montreux
Night 4 - interlaken as a base to visit murren
Night 5 and 6 - luzern area
My first question - montreux or vevey? - we plan to visit chillon Castle, vevey and montreux. As I read both ciites are close, my question is : staying at guest house le charlot , in Vevey or Grand Suisse Majestic in Montreux? ( on the guest house we can get a lake view room for the same price of the hotel standard room)
Luzern area - as we plan to go to Weggis, my question is : stay in a big town as Luzern and get a boat to Weggis ( we plan to go Mt. Riggi) or stay in Weggis and take a boat to Luzern.
Now my last question - interlaken - is Krebs hotel a nice idea? Better Murren or Wegen ? Or we have time in one day to visit both? ( I am planning to visit both or one of them, on our way from Montreux, so we would have the luggage in the car) . Any problem about leaving the luggage in the car?
Sorry, so many questions... Tks

try the beautifully situated, quiet and elegant Hotel Goldey Swiss, a favorite..on the shores of the River Aare in Interlaken. Beautiful, secluded, paved promenade along the tranquil river with short walks to Ost Station which will take you into the Alps. A foot bridge takes you to a ten minute walk to middle of the town.

Outstanding buffet breakfasts. Dramatic Alpine views from a balconied room. Ask for river view with a balcony...for Switzerland, quite reasonable at under $200 w/breakfast. Given the chance we would stay there again. Have recommended to several friends and family...and they still love us.

I must admit that i'm confused by several aspects of your plan. For example:

Why use a car? Swiss trains and buses can get you just about anywhere very easily and conveniently. And many train stations in Switzerland have luggage desks and/or lockers. I would think that a car would be an encumbrance, not an advantage, for the places you say you want to see.

What is your reason for spending a night in Interlaken? It doesn't seem that you are allotting any time to see anything in the area. Yes, you could go to Murren (by train, not car -- Murren is car-free), and if you do so, you might see some stunning views, weather permitting. Is that all you want to do in the area?

I really don't understand -- it seems that the only places where you actually plan to spend any time are Montreux and Luzern, and you have plans for them that -- weather permitting -- will basically fill all the time you are giving them.

But maybe I'm not understanding....

Hi AndreiaiBrazil,

I agree with kja above.

In Montreux/Vevey, a car won't give you any advantages. Your hosts will give you a Riviera Card that makes the busses free; the busses run every 10 minutes, and there are stops on just about every other corner. I think you'll actually do more walking if you use a car and have to get to/from the parking lots.

Friends of mine stayed at le Charlot, and they liked it. It's right at the lakeside, and it's just a few blocks from the train station. You could take a taxi upon arrival. The Suisse Majestic is just across the street from the train station, so a car really won't be any more convenient! Though the Suisse Majestic is a few blocks from the lake, the hotel is on a hill, so the lake side rooms should have a clear view of the lake.

And, yes, Mürren is car-free, so you won't be able to use your car to get up there. If that's your only reason to stay in Interlaken, a car really won't help you at all there. It would be best if you sent your bags separately on the train using the SBB's Fast Baggage service -- your hotel staff will be happy to pick up the bags at the station for you. Also, most hotels have an electric vehicle or van, and they'll be happy to pick you up at the station, too.

Have fun as you plan!

If you finally decide to spend any time in Interlaken, here's a pic of the Goldey Swiss setting.

I preferred Montreux over Vevey and did stay at the Grand Suisse Majestic. Great room with a small balcony overlooking the lake. The sunset views from there and the outside terrace were stunning! Some others prefer Vevey. There is a parking garage right across the street from the front entrance. Across the street from the train station also which makes days trips ( I went to Vevey) very easy.

I also stayed at Hotel Krebs in Interlaken for 5 nights. Had a balcony room there also with lovely views of Jungfrau. Great place for wine and apps at sunset! As well as people-watching. I know many people here don't like Interlaken but it worked great for my day trips from there.

Both rooms were very nice and quite large. I was very satisfied with both locations.

Thank you so much for your time. Tower, thanks for the hotel suggestion at Interlaken. Kja, I have noticed that a car will be a problem! Remember we are leaving Brazil for 2 weeks ( as we are going to Paris after Switzerland) so our suitcase is not those small ones you travel for the weekend. We have been in Interlaken area before ( Grindewald - twice, so we do not plan to go there this time., Wengen and Murren.) so I was planning to visit Murren , and maybe Wengen. i do not remember Wengen very well ( do I have time to go to both towns?) That. ' s why I was planning Intrlaken as a base as Murren does't look like too much to do...
Tks Swandav2000, with your coments I will definitely decide for Le Charlot. Tks Joannyc I feel more confortable about my Krebs choice.
