First trip to UK. Need to take a flight from Gatwick to Isle of Man, so I figure it is easiest to fly from Denver to Gatwick, rather than Heathrow and have to deal with traffic, etc to go to Gatwick. Any advise on Gatwick?

What advice are you looking for? Are you flying on to the IoM immediately on arrival at LGW, or are you staying in London a few days first?
We prefer Gatwick over Heathrow as it is much smaller and easy to navigate. Also we usually stay with friends in Eastbourne either at the beginning or end of a trip to the uk, is it is much more convenient to get to and from.
Given you would have to connect somewhere in the US in order to reach Gatwick why not fly via Dublin?
Thanks. We need to fly from LGW to Isle of Man so will do that. Then, return to LGW and start our tour of London.
OK-is there a reason you need to return to London via LGW? Not that you shouldn't necessarily, but you could also fly into London City which would be an easier commute to many parts of London. Where are you staying?
It depends who you are flying with as to which terminal you need at Gatwick.
easyJet operates its Gatwick to Isle of Man flights from the North Terminal, while Flybe operates from the South Terminal.
