Hi!
My husband and I are seniors using Gate 1 for the 1st time. It includes a 6 day Louis Cristol
cruise stopping in Mykonos, Patmos, Kusadasi, Rhodes, Crete and Santorini. Can you
recommend shore excursions or advice on where it might be fine to just head into
town or to a beach?
Thanking you in advance.

Rhodes is easy enough to walk around and tour on your own if you want to, and a nice way to spend a good part of the day.
Santorini, we hired a taxi and driver (after taking the venicular up - could not stand the thought of riding the donkeys) to give us a nice tour. Shared it with another couple. Cost about $50.00 for about 2&1/2 hours.
Mykonos, think we took a shuttle bus to town - really don't remember for sure how we got there, but it is then very easy to just walk around, look at the windmills, shop, eat, etc. Some people did go to a beach which would, I think, be nice also.
Kusadasi: we formed a group with several other couples on the cruise, went to the main taxi corner after we left the ship, and hired a van and driver for the entire day to take us to Ephesus and other places. Split the cost, came to about $40.00 a couple or less. Ephesus is, IMHO, one of the most amazing and beautiful archeological sites I have toured, and absolutely worth whatever it takes for you to get there. It is one of the "Don't miss it" places on your list.
