Garmin Nuvi GPS in Turkey?

We are planning to drive around the Aegan region for a few days in Turkey. We are planning to bring our Garmin Nuvi with latest Europe map addition/upgrade. As anyone used their own Garmin Nuvi with European maps installed for driving around Turkey? Did you find it reliable?

(or does anyone know what type of GPS system Europcar uses in Turkey?)

We just rented a car and they gave us a Tom Tom. I would have killed for my Garmin. The next time that is what I would do, update my Garmin for Turkey. Budget used Tom Tom which I hated.

I can't speak for Turkey but we used our Garmin Nuvi last week in Austria. It showed every little tiny road we came across, as well as all the major ones. I am very happy with it.

We used our Garmin Nuvi in Turkey in October(downloaded the latest Turkey map before we went).

It was quite reliable, except for two instances: (1) when we picked up our rental car at Izmir airport we set the Garmin to lead us to Kas but we were still within the airport grounds, which made the Garmin very confused (it led us to a security zone on the edge of the airport where we were stopped and turned around by Turkish soldiers...oops!). Once we got off the airport grounds we reprogrammed it and had no further problems. (2) On another occasion, while we were driving from Kas to Cappadocia, it tried to lead us to the middle of nowhere. Fortunately we had a paper map as well so we knew it was wrong, went our own way, and eventually got the Garmin back on the right track.

On the whole it was very helpful, and we were glad we had it.

Thanks everyone. I think will thourhg our Nuvi in the bag - I do love Nuvi (though it still doesn't understand there are like 100 traffic lights on the road it recommends to my sister's).

LOL - stupid question - but I assume car charger will work in cars in Turkey too? I never gave much thought that car chargers aren't standard

Car chargers are standard... we've used them on just about every continent...
