Galleria dell'Accademia tickets

I'm trying to purchase tickets to Galleria dell' Accademia to see the statue of David. On their website, tickets are EUR 8, however, since there's a special exhibit going on right now, tickets are EUR 16.50.

Does anyone know if it's possible to purchase just the main tickets for EUR 8 online? There are 4 of us and we're not interested in seeing anything other than David, so can't justify the double price of ticket entry.

Advice is appreciated.

Thanks.

Don't do it online. There's an international number you can call for timed tix. (Sorry, don't have the number -- try Google.) Operators speak excellent English and will complete your transaction in a minute or two.

Best parts: There's no surcharge, and you don't pay for the tix till you show up, so if you can't make it for some reason, there's no charge.

No. If there is an exhibit, you are required to pay the exhibit fee also. That is the case for the museums in Italy that I've visited (exhibits are frequent). That particular exhibit runs until the end of June. Booking online through the official site includes a 4€ reservation fee. You could save that by calling or just buying tickets at the window.

Don't buy @ the window! Unless your going in November. Unless you like standing in line for hours. Phone, book (I paid over the phone), show up 15-20 mins before your allotted time & walk in - past the hot, grumpy, tired folks who are waiting to buy @ the window.

I've never had to stand in line more than a few minutes even in high season, but I go in the afternoon.
