We will be going to Scandinavia next summer and when we're in Denmark we would like to explore the Island of Fyn since my husband's ancestors came from that area. Of course, we will be going to Copenhagen and environs, also. On Fyn, what should we see besides Odense? Any information on routes, little villages, or specific sites would be appreciated. We will be using public transportation.

Anyone?
I like Svendborg with its picturesque harbour.
Just off Svendborg on the island of Taasinge there is Valdemars Slot, a palace that is (as far as I recall) still partly inhabited by its owners, but that's also open for visitors.
You could also take a ferry over to either Lyoe (not much there, but time seems to stand still and it's very idyllic if you seek peace and quiet) or over to Aeroeskoebing (quaint, but colourful little houses).
Faaborg is quite an idyllic town, too.
