Funicular-Montemart/Sacre Couer

I can't seem to find any info on how late this runs. Does anybody know? We want to go tonight but I cannot face any more stairs or climbing today!

Merci.

Hi Vivi,

You can also take the Montmartrebus.

Took the Metro to Pl Pigalle, crossed Rue Clichy and got on the Montmartrebus (no 18) on the left side of the pl. The bus winds its way up to Sacre Coeur and down to Pl Jules Joffrin and then back to Pigalle. Worth the 1E charge.

You can get off at Sacre Coeur on the return trip.

According to the Bus Paris map at http://www.ratp.info/orienter/tous_plans_pdf.php
, the Montmartrobus only operates on Sundays and holidays, from 7h to 20h30.

The Funiculaire is a short horizontal walk from the Abbesses Métro stop.

Hi Robe,

>...the Montmartrobus only operates on Sundays and holidays, from 7h to 20h30.<

Do you mean that it has limited hours on Sundays and holidays, or that it operates only on Sundays and holidays?

I'm not sure what Robespierre is referring to on that link, which appears to be bus routes. That doesn't list the schedule -- the only time I see on a bus map is that for calling bus information. I think there is a bus only on Sun/holidays, Balabus, which runs between La Defense and Gare de Lyon in Spring/Summer.

The Montmartrobus runs every day from about 7:30 am to about 8 pm. If you want schedules, you can go to the schedules "horaires&quot section of the bus tab on www.ratp.fr and put "18" in the box for the line number you want. That is the actual number of the Montmartrobus.

The big network map is ambiguous on this point. It shows both Balabus (which only operates on Sundays in warm months) and Montmartrobus along with the other lines that operate every day, but those two are also included with the "Sundays and Holidays" list at the bottom which overlaps with the daily routes.

But I guess the Horaires is the final arbiter (provided you know that Montmartrobus is #18).

I guess this is not what you asked but unless you have a health issue the walk to the top is not that bad if you have good shoes and take it slow. Enjoy the view!

Hi aj,

We have found that 1E for taking the bus UP to Sacre Coeur and then walking DOWN is a euro well spent.

I don't think the network map is at all ambiguous. It shows the Montmartrobus on the map of lines that run weekdays, and it is on the Sun map because it does run on Sundays. Lots of buses run on Sundays on that map, as well as during the week, but I don't see anywhere on the map that it claims buses that run on Sundays only run on Sundays.

Thanks everybody! We easily found the funicular and hopped right on using Metro tickets. We marveled at the spectacular interior, I am especially interested in moasics and there were exquisite.

the steps were just jammed with kids hanging out, must be the hot spot!
