From the ferry dock to the airport.....

We will be arriving in Dublin on the ferry from Liverpool. Our rental car is at the airport, due to our late arrival. How can we, three spry young women and an elderly, not so spry mother, easily get from the dock to the airport? Of course, shlepping way too much luggage along the way. Thanks for your help.

If you arriving after hours why don't you spend the night in Dublin? It's a long way to the airport unless you want to get a taxi and it will be expensive. My guess for the cost of a taxi with luggage is 40-50 euro. This would be the easiest and probably cheaper than a hotel though. What time do you arrive?

which port are you arriving at? If it's Dun Laoghaire the taxi journey will cost a lot. However to the best of my knowledge all the Liverpool ferries arrive at Dublin port - which is a lot closer to the airport. It would probably cost you about €15 from Dublin port to the airport...a lot cheaper than a hotel room anyway!!

We are coming into Dublin Port, and arriving at about 21:25. In some of our info, there is mention of a shuttle from the port to the main bus station. Does anyone know anything about that? If we did that, how far is that from the airport?
Thanks again.

yes, there are buses at Dublin Port that meet each boat as they arrive and bring you to Busaras (central bus station). Busaras is back towards the city and is no closer to the airport. It will, however, be easier to get from there to the airport if you wish to get a bus. From Busaras you can get the 747 Airport Express bus. There are plenty of buses at that time (see www.dublinbus.ie for times). They leave approx every 15-20 minutes until the last bus at 23.30. The bus at that time would probably take about 25 minutes to the airport.

Thanks so much for all your help. And if anyone happens to see four women along the edge of the road, sobbing, that won't be us, becouse we've had so much great input from you.
Thanks again.
