From St. Germain de Pres to CdG airport
We are staying near St. Placide and need to get to the airport Wed. morning. We're unable to take the metro to the nearest RER lline and had planned to take a cab. However, the hotel says that its as cheap to take a cab to the airport. Is this correct? All experiences welcome.

you don't say why you can't take the metro to the RER stop at St. Michel. is it because it's too early in the morning?
how long are you allowing to get to the airport? what time is your flight?
if you don't have much luggage, you could probably walk it quite easily - it's all downhill!

The RER will be just as uncomfortable to navigate as the metro, and you will have to deal with your luggage. I would take a taxi the whole way.
Or I would arrange for a shuttle that would be a flat fare and you wouldn't worry about paying extra while sitting in traffic. That is what I usually do when I am going to the airport. (When I go from the airport to a hotel or apartment I use a taxi because there is a line of them just outside the terminal and I don't have to meet up with a shuttle.)
This is the one I used in March, and you can order it on line.

Joe18, you wrote "I have a bad knee and walk with a cane."
Then I would take PARISHUTTLE. For two people the fare would be $54 according to their website. There would be one or two other parties picked up along the way whose hotels would be near yours.
I have found them to be reliable in the past. Good luck.

I always take a taxi from the 6th arr. to CDG and its usually around 45-50 euro depending on time of day. I learned the hard way to always have small bills to pay for the trip. I once gave the driver 60 euro for a 45 euro trip to CDG and instead of giving me change (which was clearly my expectation given my body language and the fact that no one gives a 15 euro tip on a 45 euro fee), he got in his car and f%$#&*g drove away. I'm still a little bitter but everything is a learning experience.

TAxi for two, definitely. Have the hotel call/arrange for it then night before and be ready on the curb when it comes. There will be "something" on the meter because it starts when they leave the (probably) nearby stand. If you are waiting in your room, the meter keeps running on your nickel.
