About 30 min on foot.
More with the Vaporetto.
It is Mestre.

The best way to get to the Mestre train station is to take the train from the main station in Venice, Santa Lucia. Get to SL station by vaporetto from San Marco.

By the way, the Mestre station is called Venezia Mestre. So get on at Venezia Santa Lucia, get off at Venezia Mestre (if that is indeed the station you want).

Are you sure you want to go to Mestre - this is a largely quite unpleasant industrial suburb (although technically within the Venice city limits)?

And the Mestre train station itself is no prize.

The rail station on the island of Venice is called Venezia Santa Lucia. From San Marco you can get to this station by a long walk over many bridges, or a vaporetto (water bus), or an expensive water taxi.

Virtually every train that departs Venezia Santa Lucia makes its first stop seven minutes later at Venezia Mestre, the first rail station on the mainland.
