HI,
I seem to be a little stuck in knowing what to do from Barcelona. We want to drive from Barcelona through France and into Italy but we are not sure where.
I am thinking - 3 nights Avignon / 3 nights St Raph / 2 nights San Remo
But as always I am open to suggestions.
We are travelling with our 2 and 4 yr old.
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts,
From Barcelona to ......where??? by car

1. Let's start with how long do you have on the ground, not counting travel days.
2. Depending on the company, some rental companies won't let you return a car in Italy.
3. The dropoff fee might be horrendous.
4. You might try 2 nights in Avignon, unless that is being used as a base, and pick another night closer to the Italian border. A favorite of mine is Juan-Les-Pins, about 10-15 miles outside of Nice. It's by the sea and has nice sandy beaches.
The area around Avignon merits at least 5 days. San Remo could easily be a miss. I don't know Saint-Raphael.
It's a long drive from Barcelona to Avignon. You might want to stop in some place like Collioure or Perpignan along the way.
Hi Rastaguytoday . ..our car is a lease so we have it the whole time...works out the cheapest and trust me I really looked into it!!!

thanks for your suggestions! I will look into Juan-Les-Pins as I have never heard of it
Hi again StCirq . . .We have really chopped and changed our trip to allow for peoples opinions . .we have stopped and taken a breath ..so you honestly feel 5 days in Avignon is a must? 3 nights isn't enough? We can take it off San Remo and not go there but stay longer in Avignon . .. if that is what everyone believes is best. I will look at a nights stay in one of those places you suggest from Barcelona.
St Raphael . .looks beautiful and has a gorgeous carousel . . .we have had friends stay there and they have said it was wonderful.
As always I am so very thankful!
