We will be traveling to Athens on Aug 18th for our honeymoon trip. We arrive @ the airport around 6pm in the evening. Can anyone recommend which kind of transportation to take from airport to Athens Gate Hotel (near Acropolis). Will the metro line @ the airport be under construction in August?
Should we take the bus and then walk to the hotel or just ride the taxi?
Just how far is the hotel form Acropolis and Plaka ?
Will there be aircon in the bus and taxis?
Thanks!

From the airport the bus to Syntagma is €3.20 & runs 24/7. At times these buses are quite full because the metro isn't running. They do have aircon, but whether it's on & the level of it is up to the driver! I have used it quite comfortably several times & also had one trip that was not so good. The bad trip was 8 o'clock in the morning though, so many Athenians using it to get to work en route.
If you do use the bus to Syntagma you can walk it from there, it's about 10 mins, slightly downhill. Alternatively take the metro (red line)one stop to Acropolis or a quick cab ride if you have a lot of luggage. Taxis are supposed to be obliged to use aircon if you request it. A taxi direct from the airport should be €35-40, it will depend on traffic.

Athens Gate is well located, Plaka is the area immediately north of your hotel & to the east & north of the Acropolis.
On a map, Athens Gate approximately faces the Temple of Zeus.
Thanks Yiassas for the useful information.
Yes, Athens Gate is directly across the street from Temple of Olypmian Zeus. We stayed there last year, and the views from the rooftop bar/restaurant are amazing - on one side you get the Temple and on the other you get the Acropolis. Excellent restaurant and staff. Think you'll really enjoy it.
Forgot a couple of your questions. Plaka is maybe a 5 min walk from the hotel. About a 3 min walk to the nearest entrance to the Acropolis. And also a 3 min walk to the Akropoli Metro Station.
