Can anyone help me choose where to spend 2 nights? I am interested in this area for snorkeling and nature walks, though I understand many trails are closed in july. I will not have a car, so don't know if I can get to La Tour Fodue to catch a ferry to the islands. Should I stay in Hyeres, La Lavandou, La Londe, Porqueroulles? Thanks for any suggestions, and for posts to previous threads (Aussie, joanl) from which I received much help in planning this trip to Provence and southern France

Hi soliera
Are you flying out of Toulon? If so and given you won't have a car, perhaps consider staying in Hyères, please note that this is a big and quasi modern town and not situated right at the coast but close enough. You can bus to Giens to catch ferry to the island of Porquerolles. I have not been to the island so I can't comment.
La Lavandou is a another sea-side resort town with concrete residential blocks along its beach promenade, definitely not as pretty as Cassis. From there, you can also visit the beautiful hill top village of Bormes-les-Mimosas which has great views towards the Med.
Good luck and enjoy!
