French open

Is there a more economical way to get tickets that the French OPen website to get tickets. They are pricey. Is that becaus I am late getting them or is that just the price?

hi tidy,

how about you post a link so that we don't all have to do the work ourselves?

Then I am sure that someone here will love to help you.

That said, it is doubtful that you will find anywhere to buy tickets which is cheaper than the official website - most ticket agencies add a small handling fee on at least.

That's just the price, you'll never get them cheaper than the Roland Garros website. I don't know what prices you are referring to as they aren't on sale until March for individuals, and I don't even see the prices on there yet, although you can find them if you download the brochure. Agencies sell real expensive packages, not just tickets to the matches, you can probably buy one of those now, but you can buy only tickets direct from the website beginning March. Unless you belong to the FFT, then you can buy earlier.

see http://rolandgarros.fft-tickets.com/...o/how-to-order

Individual tickets start at 30 euro, although not great seats. How cheap do you expect? The most expensive categories are about 75 euro+, which doesn't seem that unusual to me, ballet and lots of other performances cost that amount.

not sure if this will work but here is the indiv pricing list http://staticrg.cdn.fft-tickets.com/...2015_UK_v1.pdf

>>They are pricey<<

Uh - yes. What did you think they would cost? Roland Garros doesn't "mark up" the tickets. They charge what the tickets cost.

She means that you referenced a website where you obtained ticket information and instead of having her try to recreate the wheel you crafted, you should post the link to the website you referred to so we can verify you're looking at the right information. Thus, do what Christina did and post the link so we can help with the information.

And if you book in March, the prices are lower (120 or 140E for the main court tickets instead of 180/210 for the same Fourth Round matches).

Thanks, do you think I will have any trouble getting tickets because I think I will need to book accommodations and flights before then.

That's a tough one, I never tried, maybe someone else can say. All I know is the website itself says 95% of seats sell out within one day.

Have not done French - but for US Open and Wimbledon you need to pounce on tickets for later matches the moment they go on sale - or risk having to buy from scalpers at a huge premium.

I believe Wimbeldon leaves some tickets for sale day of if you stand on line all night - but don;t think for finals.

tidy - if your trip to France is reliant on your getting tickets for the French open though official channels, you may have to get the tickets first.

Paris is so big you won't have problems getting accommodation somewhere if you act quickly but I can't help you with flights - I think that I would have them lined up in time for the date that the ticket go on sale, then book as soon as I got the tickets for the tennis.

if, of course, you are intent on seeing Paris anyway, get the trip organised for the right time, and then stalk the ticket website.

Any time I've gone to a major event -- I've booked the event tickets first. There are a lot more airplane seats to Europe and hotel rooms than there are seats in Roland Garros.

Your other option is to get a package through one of the big sports tour companies -- hotel/event tickets together -- but they will be PRICEY.

I agree. First, there will be no problem at all getting hotel rooms for that time period later on. I never book my hotel rooms for Paris this early, and I often go in June/July. That tournement is end of May/early June, so it may be a little more crowded but still not a problem. Paris is a big city with a couple thousand hotels. To get a place you really want, it helps to book some months ahead, but March shouldn't be a problem for that. Of course, you can cancel almost all hotels, anyway, I've never stayed in a Paris where you couldn't cancel the reservation. If you choose a rate that is prepaid, that's your choice, but you certainly don't have to.

I also don't think March is a problem for booking air. I think I often may book in Jan-Feb, but I still don't think it's a big problem.

If you don't want to book the flights yet, why not use booking.com or similar to book the hotel with free cancellation terms, then you will have that in place without risk of losing your money.
