I'm planning a trip to Paris in late December, to visit my friend's family. Unfortunately, I speak no French. And they speak no English!
Can anyone recommend a good CD/book set from which I can learn French language skills? I'm looking for something taught (if possible) by a native of France, as I don't want to offend my hosts with a bad accent. I looked at the local bookstores, but there are at least 10 choices, all of which claim to be the 'best' selection! Thanks for the help!

I have tried several of the CD/tape/book sets. They did not help me at all. I ended up finding a course through the local community college and was really impressed! My class was called French For Travelers and was only 2 months long and the cost was $99. The instructor is from France and I cannot tell you how much I got out of it. We have been there before, and got along without knowing the language, but this upcoming trip I feel much better about with having some knowledge of the language. Oh, and the other people in the class were a lot of fun and I think we all learned a lot from each other.
The Berlitz Premier CDs are good (and cheap).
