Hello all,
I will be traveling to Germany March 2010 with two of my friends. This will be our first time so I am asking for some advice on what to do and where to go. We are in our 30's, easy going and ready to explore. We want to visit castles, fun pubs, go on some wine tours, and see some sights.
What will the weather be like in March?
We also thought about renting a car and driving to Amsterdam for a couple days. Can someone suggest on a nice and affordable hotel in the main part of town? Also some fun places to go?
Appreciate all suggestions.
Thanks,
Lori

I can't suggest a hotel in Amsterdam - there are plenty of threads here which offer suggestions. However, parking in Amsterdam is extremely expensive, and driving in the centre is not for the faint hearted. I would consider getting the train to Amsterdam rather than driving. Either that or find a hotel further out from the city and use public transport to get into the city centre.
Trains would probably work better for your plans and would be much, much cheaper and much less trouble, as well. If you do use a car, leave it at a park-and-ride site on the outskirts of Amsterdam.
In Amsterdam you can often find GREAT deals with apartment rentals. I myself have had positive experiences with Alexander Apartments which are very central and well connected but out of the way enough to get a good night's rest. But walk or take the tram and park outside town. Parking is ridiculous and Amsterdam is compact enough to easily walk.
