Frankfurt to Berlin -Are Prague and Salzburg doable?
Hello
We want to go from Frankfurt to Berlin and then Prague and Salzburg on our return to Munich. I am looking for a logical path and make it financially doable. Will it make sense to take the train or fly or a combination of both?

It's easily doable by train. Just go to bahn.de for schedules. You can also see prices and when/what the discounts would be.
The key question is howmuch time do you have.
If you try to do this in 6 or 7 days it's simply not possible. If you have 2 weeks it is.

There isn't any good train line from Prague to Salzburg, so that section of the trip is not easy. I mean there isn't a very good straight line between the two, so you'd have to transfer a couple times between the two cities, and it's kind of a circuitous route. Say from Prague to Regensberg, Germany then to Linz then Salzburg. Or go through Munich to Salzburg which seems kind of redundant and isn't quick, either, but Salzburg isn't that far from Munich. The other way would be going through Vienna, I think, then back going west to Salzburg.
I doubt if there are any great cheap airlines to Salzburg from Prague, either, but haven't looked into it. Germanwings flies to Salzburg from Germany (Bonn/Cologne), but then you'd have to fly from Berlin and transfer there, but you could do it. see www.germanwings.com

It's not that bad between Prague and Salzburg. Either one change in Landshut (Bavaria) or a change in Ceske Budejovice plus one in Linz and that's it. The travel time is quite long, though - about 7 hours since these trains are slow.
Flying makes no sense. Distances are too short for that.

Take the IC InterCity #101 lvg at 07:16 from Praha hl.n. (the main station) to Linz Hbf, arr. 12:15.
Switch to the Austrian train OIC 548 lvg Linz Hbf at 12:32, arr. Salzburg Hbf at 13:49, just in time for a late lunch.
If you can't get out of bed for that one, you'll go hungry unless you pack a sandwich: Take the R635 lvg Praha Hl.n. at 09:16 for Ceske Budejovice, arr. 11:55, switch to the SP 1933 lvg C.B. at 12:18 for Linz Hbf, arr. 14:43, switch to the OEC566 lvg Linz Hbf at 14:53, arr. Salzburg Hbf at 15:59.

Flying from Frankfurt to Berlin might make sense (there are a lot of connections), though it can also be done by train.
If you go from Berlin to Prague, you can do a stop at Dresden. Going from Prague to Munich, most trains pass by Nuremberg. If time is an issue, I'd think about visiting them instead of Salzburg.

No more decent trains from Prag to Nürnberg, only slowcoaches - the best and quickest is an ExpressBus now.
The halfway decent trains Prag-München don't go via Nürnberg.
