Frankfurt experts--question about Hoechst Porcelain shop
Does anyone know anything about the Hoechst porcelain shop/museum in Hoechst? I know there's one in Frankfurt, but the one in Hoechst will be more convenient. I can't find anything on the internet about days and hours of opening. Thanks!

Are you talking about the Kronberger Haus?
http://www.historisches-museum.frank..._id=66&clang=1
Saturday and Sunday 11-18 clock
In addition to the following public holidays and bridgedays:
1 May closed
9 Mai (Ascension) 10 - 18 clock
Pentecost Sunday 10-18 clock
Whit Monday 10 - 18 clock
Wäldchestag closed
Looks like they are only open on weekends and some holidays. Seems odd but whatever.

A long time ago I went into a shop near the Hoechst chemical plant complex and there was porcelain for sale; last year I went into a shop in Frankfurt. I was wondering if there's still a shop in or near Hoechst that actually still sells the wares; trying to avoid special trip to Frankfurt. I can't tell from the website listed if it's anything except a museum.

This is not the same location as the museum.
The retail store is

Open M-F 1000-1900 and Sat 1000- 1600
Hope that helps.

Hurt I am, that you don't want to make a special visit to Frankfurt! Does this mean I get to go to Höchst instead? They are getting ready for their big fest of the season, the Höchster Schloss Fest.
Was just getting ready to post the info that wanderfrau just posted.
When will you be here?

Ah, Mainhattengirl--don't be hurt. I'm actually not there or coming in the foreseeable future--DH is there on business--and obviously on a bit of search for me! When next I'm there, I will of course try for a gtg!! Thanks so muchly. I have such good memories of my time in the Frankfurt area last July, much aided by your help.
(I am headed to Scotland and England and then Paris with 10 students and 3 adults in 3 days! Then I am staying in Paris and DH is meeting me for 10 days--our first visit in France. Much last minute stuff going on!!!! But when/if next I'm in Germany---)
wanderfrau--Than you!!

wanderfrau and Mainhattengirl--You are the best! As soon as I read the info, I texted it to DH, who was driving back towards Hoechst from Frankfurt where he'd gone to Toepferi Maurer. He made it to the shop in Hoechst about 30 minutes before closing, sent me some pix, and made his purchase!
He's VolCrew here on Fodors and says to send his appreciation!
(DD had answered, "a mug or a tea tidy" when he asked her what she wanted from Germany and so the hunt began!)
Fodorites to the retail rescue!

Is it really true that most shops and department stores close between 2-4 on Saturdays in Frankfurt?
