Frankfurt Airport - Good meeting place?

Next month, my wife and I are flying into Frankfurt Airport about 9am. My son will be flying in at about the same time, but on a different flight. Both flights are on Lufthansa.

We won't have cell phones, but we need to figure out a good place to meet. I have been in the Frankfurt airport once or twice, but I don't know it well enough to pick a good place. I don't know if one of us can go to the other's gate after getting off the plane, but before going through customs, but if we can do that, that may be a good option. Or we were also thinking we might be able to meet just before or just after customs.

Is there anyone out there who knows the airport well enough to give us some advice?

You very likely will land at the same terminal (you can get that info. from Lufthansa). If you want to avoid having your son wander all around the airport, I suggest you arrange meeting him in the luggage area. There you can find out at which station the luggage of your son's flight will be arriving, and meet him there. Another option is to have him meet you at the immigration office. But that thens to be sort of a mess when several transatlantic flights arrive. You then have to go either into the EU citizen or non- EU citizen line. From there you will then go to the luggage (customs) hall, where things sort of thin out. So, instruct your son to get off the plane, go through Immigration (I assume he is a non EU citizen, so take that line) and follow the English and German signs to the luggage area.

treplow - yes we are all non-EU citizens. Good suggestion, thanks very much.

Personally I wouldn't like to wait in the luggage area in case that one of the flights is late and you're dying for a coffee.

At Terminal 1, the arrival area is in level 1

There's a designated meeting point when you leave the luggage area and if one of the flights is late, the others can wander around and grab a coffee or something to eat.

Each terminal has a designated "Meeting Point" area (Treffe Punkt in German?) We have had no problems using these as the designated spot because there are seats, a computer screen where you can check flight arrivals (though I was disappointed that my sister's flight which had arrived a 1/2 hour early was not kept on the screen until the original scheduled time, making it hard to check on the flight and confirm its arrival), and food stands nearby.
