Four favorite things to do in Paris during the Christmas holidays
I'm in the beginning planning stages for a trip to Paris over the Christmas holidays. It will be a return visit to Paris and I'm anticipating a quiet, wandering kind of trip vs. a busy sight-seeing trip.
If you were spending a week in Paris during the holidays, what experiences/ activities would be ones that you enjoy?

We have enjoyed the Christmas Eve concert at Ste Chappelle, a glass of Champagne while checking out the big tree inside Galleries Lafayette, definitely the the windows at Printemps and Galleries Lafayette....our favorite was enjoying our Salted Butter Caramel ice cream from Berthillon in the snow (on Christmas Eve) in the little park behind Notre Dame. So many of the little shops have lovely windows, especially the chocolate shops. There is also an ice skating rink in front of the Hotel de Ville. Christmas in Paris is wonderful.

I'll second looking at the department store windows--they are incredible!
I'd also add:
Visiting the Christmas street markets and enjoying the ambience--AND a glass of hot mulled wine to warm up!
Be sure to visit several different neighborhoods--each has their own lovely decorative street lighting.
Another fun activity is the Musee des Arts Forain. It's open to the public in December, and is a fun half day activity. Here's a link to our pictures from Christmas 2014:

Christmas Mass at Notre Dame, as well as a concert of Gregorian chants at Notre Dame between Christmas and New Years.
Ambling along the Seine on New Years Eve with lots of happy folks, stopping on a bridge to watch the Eiffel Tower changing colours, walking through Hotel de Ville with its skating rink, crowded with kids of all ages having fun.
Enjoying not buying gifts and struggling through hot crowded malls at home.
We had your kind of trip, wandering wherever we pleased, and stopping at the Ritz for hot chocolate.

Department stores windows are topping my list whenever I'm in Paris around Christmas
Watching folks skate on the outdoor rink in front of Hotel de Ville - would skate but...
Christmas Eve around 5-6 watching the long lines at boulangeries with locals stocking up on fresh bread for their Christmas Eve midnight soiree
Christmas Markets bien sur and have a glass of gluh wine!
Christmas Day I was there not long day and the streets were packed with strollers - burning off the huge meal the night before - many cafes and small shops and even some lesser museums were open.
