Four Days in Rome - Please Help!

Hello,

We will be in Rome for four days at the end of our honeymoon. We are thinking about getting a tour guide for the middle two days but aren't sure yet. Can anyone please suggest a 4-day itinerary?

Thank You!

Others here are more experienced as far as itineraries, but I can make a suggestion- why not get a guide for specific places that you want to see, rather than for entire days. It will leave you time to just wander around this really romantic city! There are exceptional guides- we used Icon Tours for a tour of the Forum and Colosseum; not only did Sarah do a great job with the tour, but she explained the buses/schedules/metro, showed us how to use the drinking fountains (seriously- you plug the mouth of a running water tap and the water pops out a hole in the top in a neat little stream!) recommended great resturants, and told us to call her if there were any other questions while we were in Rome. We also took the standard "reserve ahead of time" Vatican Museum Guided Tour. Again, the guide was wonderful, very knowledgeable, and was understandable. Of course, John Ford's cast of thousands were also there; something to keep in mind if you don't like crowds. Both guides were very different, and perfect for the sights they showed us.

Hi J&K - The Rome Tourist Office website is your best starting point - it has a 4-day itinerary:

www.romaturismo.it

Hope this helps ...

It's difficult to give suggestions with no information. What are your interests? Ancient history? Architecture? Art? Sculpture? Churches? Shopping? You need to include time for wandering and sitting in a cafe!

Click on the "Destinations" tab here on Fodor's and you'll find information you can print out on various cities.
