Fountain show at Versailles

Is the fountain show worth seeing at Versailles? I am debating whether we want to visit it on a Friday (a lot less people) or Saturday. Is the fountain show the only difference between the two days? We've seen the water show at the Bellagio's in Vegas. Is it similar?

Thanks.
Ellen

elyang...
YES! YES! YES! or OUI! OUI! OUI!

We went last summer (2007). It was my favorite part of Versailles. When the fountains are running, classical music is pumped through out the gardens. It was fantastic. At the end of the day there is a BIG water display at Neptune's fountain which you should try to stay for.

It is more of seeing the beauty of the fountains than a water show in Vegas.

The fountains do not run all the time. There are specific times when they were turned off. When they did turn of...that was when I realized how the gardens were really alive with the fountains.

You could still see the beauty of the gardens without the fountains but the fountains make the gardens SPECTACULAR!

To tour the buildings and the gardens, will take a day. I thought it was worth it!

I could not agree more with off2CU! Last April we chose to go when the fountains would be on and it was one of my favorite parts of the trip! We (my husband and I) LOVED it. Like off2CU mentioned, classical music is played and you get to wander around enjoying the fountains and imagining what it was like to live at Versailles. I have not been to Vegas, but I can only imagine Versailles is MUCH better!

The fountains are definitely worth the crowds! Spectacular music just makes it more special. We went to the fireworks display last summer, too. It was a little weird to me that the music at night was new-age, the fireworks were only fair, but it was cool to be there at night anyway!

elyang, sorry, meant to say, too, that the fountain show is nothing like Bellagio.
If you are going in June or July, that's when the fireworks shows are (at least they were last year). You have to leave the grounds and return later at night.

Saturday it is! Thanks! We are going in mid May, so won't be able to see the fireworks.
