Good question. There sure is a lot of coverage here in Michigan on television.

Princess Diana was and always will be admired throughout the world for her kindness, compassion, humanity, style, and being a wonderful mother to her children. She cannot be replaced. I am sad she is not physically here for her beloved children, but she is always with them in spirit. Just as all of our loved ones who have passed, are watching over us. Please show some respect for this wonderful Lady. Thank you. She is our Queen of Hearts.

By comparison, BBC America is making a very big deal of it, with videotaped replays of news coverage of the accident, the funeral, etc.

As for whether Diana was worthless: Anytime a child loses his mom, it is a terrible tragedy.

Anyway, Brits, have people generally accepted the explanation of the circumstances of the crash, or are you awash in conspiracy theories?

It's no theory. Doesn't everyone accept that she was killed by a shot from the grassy knoll?
When I was little I always used to love getting those paperdolls of the royal family. I just loved Diana and grew up admiring her. She was a great woman, kind and noble of spirit as well as blood. Her heart was pure and she suffered a lot while on earth, but she also had some of the greatest moments on earth, like having her kids and being a great mum...also she was caring and respected all, and while others tried to put out that brilliant light in her, against the face of all, she strove to help others and to make life better for everyone. She was one of the last of the great humanitarians. Her death was a great loss and a tragedy felt in many a household.

She will be loved and remembered by all.

Patricia

There's hardly any. Probably many people don't even know that it is the anniversary. Of course Fayed pops up every so often to accuse the D of E of plotting her death, but most people accept that if a drunk driver drives too fast on a dangerous piece of road, you are likely to have an accident.

Took the Windsor tour in March. My Brit cousin and I froze horrified in one of the rooms as a palace guard, in response to a question about Diana, gave his opinion that it was perhaps just as well that she died before she could marry again and perhaps produce mixed-race half-siblings to the future king. We could only hope that this was his opinion alone and not something whispered about the royal residence at large.

jeremy

speak for yourself

i feel its a tragedy for her children, but not any more so than it is for the many children around the world who have lost their mothers...

she might be the queen of your heart katie, and that's fine, but she isnt the queen of mine.

I dont disrespect her in any way

but I do find it interesting that so many people in the world can be more upset about the death of this far away princess than they are about the death of someone in their own street or even in their own family...

Strange world we live in...

She was probably a good person, but I have more respect for any one of the thousands of hard working nurses in this country who give such excellent care to their patients for paltry reward. Without the money of nobility to make their generousity easier, they get my respect above diana any time

kavey
