Food at Ashford Castle

I was wondering if anyone could share their dining experiences at Ashford Castle. It appears I will only have Cullens Cottage or George V to choose from the night I will be there. Any other food recommendations off grounds would be helpful too. Thanks

I've always had great meals at Michaleen's in Cong.

Off season the castle will likely be your only option as the restaurants in Cong will be closed. There are a couple of nice coffee shops but they close in late afternoon around 5 or so. The Hungry Monk and the Quiet Man Coffee Shop are both good.

I have dined only in the main restaurant and really enjoyed it. I would be very happy to have the opportunity of trying the George V too.
I was there in winter -it was not too expensive to stay then.See www.ashford.ie for details

Straight out the front gate, up the road about four miles to The Neale, and find on your left The Pyramids. It looks like nothing much from the outside, but it is good inside.

I didn't consider that there's limited dining at Ashford early in the week when I planned my trip itinerary. Next time I will pay more attention.

Thanks for all the suggestions in the area, at least I know we definitely wont starve!
