As I said in my report, the 3 week Bavarian, Austrian, and Swiss Alps tour was the best trip I've taken. Thanks to Fodorites who made it possible....PalenQ, travelforbeer, dickey, minar, nsteacher, marg, Michele, and aisle seat. Apologies to anyone I missed. A concern I had was will I be "Alped to death" by the time my last week in Switzerland comes. No way! Each region had its own uniqueness and beauty. 2 great tips were...don't miss Gimmelwald, and walk from Grutschlap(sp?) to Murren. Someone said Gimmelwald was like watching paint dry....ha, it was my favorite place. Lauterbrunnen was a great choice to stay, love the small village charm....and didn't care about nightlife...after a day of hiking, we were usually in bed before 10. Planning a Rome, Amalfi Coast Tour next. I'm sure I'll be searching the forum, and pickings brains again! Once again, Fodors comes through!
