Fodor's prices for accomodations
While trying to find a place to stay in Florence and Venice, I tried the recommendations on the Fodor's website. However, I found them to be highly inaccurate, sometimes as much as half the hotel's quoted prices! Just one example of many: Hotel Hermitage in Florence quoted 220 euros for a std dbl, but Fodor's has them at 103-181.

No different - - and maybe not as bad as - - any other print publication. Their information is not a database; it's a snapshot in time.

And 181 is not half of 220. When it was 103-181 that didn't nean that those lower price rooms were for what you need, in the month you want it.

All travel information is inherently perishable. Up-to-the-minute info is why they have this forum. Many of "us" can direct you to internet resources where you can find the timely and accurate info you are seeking. Like www.venere.com - - for example.

Best wishes,

Rex
Fodor's rates were slightly inaccurate before, and are now highly inaccurate. I've notice that, after the Euro, the rates for hotels in Europe increased immensely.

Comparing the rates I paid last year, I would say that the rates, in some cases, are nearly doubled. Has someone else had this impression?

Regards,

Surlok
