Fodors Guidebooks on Kindle
Good morning
Have you bought a full sized guidebook on Kindle? If so, did you like it? What were the pluses and minuses?
I see Fodors is coming out with a new Barcelona guidebook and I really want to get it, but, the paperback comes out after my visit and the Kindle version comes out just before my visit.
What to do...

The biggest drawback to me of all kindle books, is the difficulty in flipping pages -- back to something I read, ahead a bit. I think in a guide book, I would prefer a paper copy.
I have found that new versions of Fodors' guides don't vary all that much on major things.
Do you have an apple product? Use free app for Barcelona:

I agree with DebitNM in terms of flipping pages on a Kindle: Forget it!!! I bought exactly one "guidebook" for a Kindle; the maps were small and for me, difficult to read.
I would much prefer a paperback copy and I would use the internet extensively with my laptop/tablet before I wasted time on a Kindle version.

The other challenge is related to maps, especially ones that straddle two pages. You can only view one page at a time on a Kindle. Also, I don't think you can expand the image.
Why don't you try another guidebook on your Kindle and see if it's manageable? I understand your desire to take a guidebook in this format but I would try it first.
Good luck!

Hi all
Thanks for the tips - that is what I was thinking - hard to find things/flip around. The maps I am less worried about as I have a street map already. I already have one small guidebook - I tend to overdose on guidebooks for trips - this time I will likely restrict myself to two in my bag. For Spain that is.
I don't want the Kindle format - but the 2014 Fodors guidebook comes out in mid-September (??) and the current one is from 2012. Getting the Kindle version at least means I have the new one before I leave.
Debit - great idea, thank you, I will download it!
