Fodorite season - what is?
Could Kerouac or anyone else enlighten me regarding his comment made on the Europe forum about the fire the Chunnel that:
"the main fodorite tourist season is finished".
What does he mean?

The biggest wave of tourism tends to end early September as school returns and folks are held closer to home.
There will always be travellers, young marrieds with no children in school and Seniors with all the time in the world but it does slow right down compared to the summer months.

I guess what interested me was the qualifier "Fodoroite". Do people who post on this forum see them themselves as different, a group apart, or something along those lines.
Do you? And if so, why?

Fodorite is a term that was coined many years ago and I think we do see ourselves as a special group. There are Fodorite get togethers all over the world where groups of people meet for drinks or dinner when their travel plans coincide. A long time ago there was a Fodorite pin (limited quantity). We're quoted in the Fodor guidebooks and many people have found friendships outside this forum because of this forum.
It's like a family and just like a family we've had our share of problems and joys. We've seen loved contributors pass away, people leaving and coming back (hopefully), people sharing their health problems, but mainly sharing our love of travel, experiences, and new places. And anyone can join.
