Flying In and out of Catania

There have been several messages lately from folks planning to visit Sicily in 2013.
DH and I will be spending our yearly vacation in Sicily in April 2013. We made arrangements to meet our tour group in Catania and booked our flights to and from Rome on United. All
that was left was to arrange local flights from Naples, after a few days there, to Catania
and Catania back to Rome airport. What a time consuming nightmare! I notified my credit
card company, researched the airlines that fly these routes and began my internet trial.
Hours of my time filling in our names, addresses, telephone numbers etc. etc. etc. At the
last step, the message "credit card charges denied" came up yesterday over and over
for the flight back to Rome. I finally called CheapoAir and made the reservations over the phone although it is more expensive to do it that way and we cannot pre-pay excess baggage fees. While the flight to Catania from Naples was not quite as bad
on Alitalia, it still took quite a while. Oh, to make matters worse, I got a call yesterday evening
asking telling me that early attempts to charge airline tickets had been stopped and did I authorize them? Press 1 if no, press 2 if yes, then muzak muzak muzak. Nightmarish!

I think that I will wait until next week to retry booking our last night at Hilton Gardens at
the Rome airport. Their "technical systems" are not working right now. Right now,
I am too discouraged to do anything more with bussnesses in Italy over the Internet
