Florence to Bologna Train schedules

Hi all, My wife and i wish to take either a train or bus from Florence to Bologna. I saw posting saying that there are a lot of trains that run between the two. However, looking at trenitalia website, it only shows one train and it leaves at 21:37. Are there any trains during the day? This time is too late for us. Thanks all!

How far ahead are you looking? If all you want is an idea of frequency, use a date in the next few days and you will see all the trains.

Thanks so much for answering mjdh. Ok i tried for today's date and you are right there are a lot of trains! However, if i put the date of June 10, then i only see one train. Is this because they do not update the schedule until it gets closer?

Mid-June is when the schedule changes from winter to summer, and the updates appear on a date quite close to the change. (There have also been reports that recently the website is not showing all trains for mid-May.)

Florence/Bologna by Frecciarossa/Frecciargento train is extremely expensive (25 Euros in second class) for the 37-minute trip. If you want to pay less than ONE THIRD of this sum, you can travel by unreserved regionale train (with a required connection at Prato Centrale). There are hourly regionale trains from Bologna to Prato Centrale, then frequent regionale trains from Prato Centrale to Firenze SMN. To find the schedules, you MUST click on the "all solutions" icon at the bottom left of the screen. Otherwise, the Trenitalia system will pull up only the expensive Freccia trains! Travel by regionale train will take under TWO HOURS (including connection time), versus 37 minutes by Freccia train.

Hi all,
Thanks so much for your information! You have all been a great help. It was really frustrating not being able to find a train from Florence to Bologna. Now i know we have a lot more options.
