Florence Hotel--Orto de Medici, Macchiaioli, Centrale????

Spending ten nights in an apt in Rome with two other couples. Will train to Florence for an overnight and I have the job of finding a hotel for the six of us (three rooms). My husband and I and one couple have been to Florence before, the other couple have not. Since we have limited time and want to see much location is important. Would like easy access by foot to the train and to main sights.

Currently have a reservation at Orto de Medici, Via San Gallo 30 and think the hotel looks great and gets good reviews. But now I'm concerned it may be a little too far from train and sights. Also looking at Hotel Macchiaioli, Via Cavour 21 and Hotel Centrale, Via dei Conti 3 which seem a bit more central. Prices are about the same. Trip is at the end of September.

Any experiences, thoughts, ideas??? I am really angsting about this!!

The first two, Orto de Medici and Hotel Macchiaioli, are about a two minute walk from one another. Hotel Macchiaioli is on a busier, wider traffic street while Orto dei Medici is on a narrower street with more foot traffic. Hotel Centrale is slightly more central, but at a very busy intersection which might even be too busy/too noisy.

If it were me, I would probably keep Orto dei Medici.

http://www.booking.com/hotel/it/de-l....en.html?map=1 -

Stayed here last under 100 euro per nite betterbidding.com

bidding priceline.com was perfectly located and great value

Booking.com will have other options honest reviews from recent

guests unlike the fake owner culled Tripadvertizer reviews,

check yours there for correct info

Italyby.com for apartments but for a short time would go

for something super nice at a great price.

Pitti Palace is another 3 star I like well located good price

Happy Hunting,
