Fiumicino Airport help? Early flight
I need to get to Fiumicino Airport for a early 7:50 AM flight. I want to avoid a taxi. What options do I have. I think it is to early for the train.

When I was in Italy 2 years ago we had an early flight and we booked a car service - probably at 5:30 or 6:00 am - but there was really no traffic that early and we got to the airport very quickly- it seemed within 20 minutes.

I've used www.limoservicerome.com but you might want to check the options on the airport website.

The pension where we stayed book the arrangements for us but I still have the man's card. He was a very lovely older gent who spoke some English and was exactly on time for our pick-up. If I recall the fare may have been about 50-55 EU. It was the total price for the car (not per person).
Here is his information:
Piero
335.6010618
328.9476172
There are also a lot of other limo services that are recommended here. I think that this is the basic fare.

This is the cheapest service that I know of:
http://www.airportshuttle.it/
It's 26 Euro + 30% before 7:00 a.m. = 33.80 Euro. You have to tell them when your flight leaves and they will tell you when they will pick you up. Since it's a service that picks up passengers all over Rome, it will take longer than a private shuttle limousine.
http://www.romeshuttlelimousine.com/FiumicinoE.htm
This is a private limousine transfer; there is no indication whether there is a surcharge for a pick-up before 7:00 a.m. That early in the morning, the trip can take about 20 minutes.

A regular taxi will cost 40 Euro; again, there's no indication whether there is a supplementary charge for a pick-up before 7:00 a.m.

I just found this link from the airport site.
There is a direct non-stop train service to Fuimicino Airport Station from Roma Termini station.
Trains run every half hour during the day, from 05:51 to 22:51. Journey time is around 32 minutes.
Fare: EUR€8.80.
The Metropolitan FM1 train service from Roma Tiburtina station runs from 05.06 then every 15 minutes from 05:36 to 20:36, then half hourly until 22.36. Journey time is around 42 minutes.
Fare: EUR€2.27.
That should give me plenty time for a 7:50 flight.

Mike_b12,
True, those are all possible alternatives, but the costs are completely out of date. The Leonardo Express from Termini to Fiumicino is now 11 Euro; the FM is now 5 Euro - and have you checked that the buses and/or Metro run early enough to get you to Tiburtina?
Here's the page with current information from Aeroporti di Roma:

Since it's formatted as a table, I don't know how this will come out, but here is a cut-and-paste:
TRENO DIRETTO LEONARDO EXPRESS
biglietto
€ 11,00
Fiumicino Aeroporto -> Stazione Termini Stazione Termini -> Fiumicino Aeroporto
Pretty well, after all... (I added the bold.)
