First trip to Ireland

First trip to Ireland

Going to Ireland the last week of March 25-April 1. We are flying into Dublin ,arriving 9 am, leaving Dublin. Also I am driving there.We plan on driving around Dublin and heading south towards Kinsale (this will be our overnight stay.) Any nice B&B in Kinsale? Is this to far to drive the first day? Plus we want to stop along the way, any place in particular we should stop? We like our pubs.

when i went to ireland last time, we took a train from dublin to cork, and rented a car there, and drove to kinsale. kinsale is awesome! there are no really big hotels there, mostly b & b's. i stayed at a hotel, don't remember the name, but it was very sparse, and basic. if you have the time, my favorite place in ireland is mizenhead, and crookhaven. a long drove (2 hours?) from kinsale. i go to ireland in may! enjoy it.

Kinsale is an awfully long drive after a transatlantic flight (I'm assuming you are coming from the US?). When we went over our second time, we drove to Kilkenny, and were nigh on exhausted halfway there. We were almost involved in several accidents due to our own fatigue and our unfamiliarity with the roads.

I would highly recommend staying somewhere halfway or closer to Dublin the first night!!!

I would not drive all the way to Kinsale on my 1st day afetr an overseas flight. That is a very long drive and there are lots of places in between that could fill a day. As mentioned, Kilkenny would be a nice place to spend the first night. A couple of hours drive and then relax. Cashel and Caher are nice too, but I would only go as far as Kilkeeny. Driving to Kinsale the 1st day is way too much. By the way, you probably won't be out of the airport until about 11.
