First Trip to Germany

We are planning our first trip to Germany this summer, my wife, son (11 years old) and myself for two weeks, leave DC June 23, arrive Frankfurt 24th - Leave Frankfurt July 7

We are going to stay in Stuttgart from June 24-27, leave on the 27 and travel through the black forest to Lindau for a couple of days then on to Munich.

My question is on the route, I plan on visiting the Mercedes museum Friday morning, leave for the black forest after lunch, take A831 west out of Stuttgart to the A8 to the A5 south to Baden-Baden, stop for bit in Baden-Baden then take the B500 to Freudenstadt. Spend the night there then in the morning drive to Triberg ->Villingen-Schuenningen -> Donaueschingen ->Lindau

Or
Take the A5 all the way to Freiburg spend the night get up and head to Furtwangen -> Tribert -> Villingen-Schuenningen -> Donaueschingen ->Lindau

Which is a more scenic route? Which route would you take or would you take something else?
